EPS Mission:

EPS's mission is to build on the firm foundation of Church teaching to provide adult lay Catholics with a solid intellectual and spiritual grounding for their faith, so they can understand, live and share it in their homes, parishes, community and workplaces.

EPS goals are:

  • To foster a profound realization of the vocation of the Christian lay faithful
  • To prepare lay people for informed evangelization in their:
    Families
    Parishes and Dioceses
    Workplaces
    Communities
    Social/professional networks

In particular, EPS programs are designed:

...to foster...

  • union with Christ, "the source of the Church's whole apostolate"
  • reliance on the power of his indwelling Spirit

...to promote...

  • love for the Church and its sacraments
  • an intelligent grasp of the scriptural and theological grounds for its teaching
  • reverence for its authority
  • collaboration among lay people, clergy and religious
  • community in diversity

...to engender confidence for...

  • confronting complex societal issues
  • discerning and advancing appropriate responses grounded in authentic Catholic teaching

EPS Objectives:

EPS objectives are to provide Catholic lay people with

  • Theological, Scriptural and pastoral education
  • Spiritual formation
  • Other training programs designed to prepare Catholic lay people for service in their parishes
  • Training to fully participate in the Church's mission of evangelization in a variety of settings
